The Perfect Swing

Today I looked around at a full field on Wednesdays competition day and I was amazed at just how many different types of golf swings going on around me on the golf course…

The funny thing was there was also some really good shots being played.

It just goes to show that in the game of golf, your own personal swing comes down to what is right for you,. Sure we all can be shown how to swing the golf club the perfect way and it might iron out some bad kinks for us, but in the end will we all come out with the perfect swing?

It’s not just the technique of the swing that counts. Improving your golf takes more than the perfect swing.

The Golfer’s Mindset

Today was a golf practices day, due to the fact that I was meant to start a new job in the construction Industry as a crane operator/Dogman, but I didn’t get a start on site due to some underlining outside facture which are out of my control, although my mind was set on starting a new job today it just wasn’t meant to be this gave me a feeling of disarrangement until I decided to take this opportunity and practise on my game

This got me thinking about the game of golf and the importance to quickly adapt to changes, you see the game golf involves changing variables that directly influence how we as a player approach the game. Although you have control over which equipment you choose to play with.

There are so many factors that are beyond our  control which will affect the way we perform, Things such as weather, speed of the greens, length of the rough, slope of the fairway, your playing partner and players ahead of you are common variables over which you have no control.

These are among the many factors that will affect how you perceive your game for that day, yet are out of your personal control. Variables on the golf course often cause distress in players who do not know how to manage obstacles that are introduced during the game.

“That’s the game of golf.”

For more of an in-depth look at how to rid your golf game of negative chatter and quickly adjust to take your game to the next level check out my new eBook

Golf Clubs

Today I became a privileged full member of the Burleigh Golf Club; it was my first tour around the clubs facilities’ and the golf course.

The Membership Chairman, Andrew Mckerr invited me to play a round of golf,    welcoming me to the club and I must say I was very impressed with what the club had to offer the golfing enthusiast.  I was given a warm welcome from the clubs staff and clubs PGA Professional Jamie Brew, with quick round of nine holes to follow…

I can tell you that this golf club is a hidden gem.  The Fairway grass is like green carpet, and the greens are very true.  All holes have a challenging layout surrounded by matured large gum tress and an unforgiving ruff which can be found not only to the left and right of the fairway but also to the centre.  This makes you think of your club selection wisely at the tee off markers.  The greens are surrounded by sloping hills and some deep bunkers which I was fortunate enough  not to enter.

I started my first handicap card and played my first hole of my new golf club off with a birdie!  I pushed the driver into the water on the second to make a double bogie, a few more pars, a bogie and a birdie on the last hole to have 3 over on the front 9.  Then due to bad light retired to the bar to have the compulsory initiation drink and meet some of the clubs charismatic members including the club’s captain.

Andrew proceeded to tell me that their plan is to make Burleigh Golf Club the best private members club in Queensland, Australia and with a great team and the help of their new superintendent Darryl Edwards (who previously looked after the prestige Hyatt Regency Coolum Golf Course).   Darryl Edwards has been voted the number one tenant for looking after 301 Bermuda grass which this golf course grass consists of.  I think they’re well on their way… Thank-you for the warm welcome Burleigh Golf Club.
